Rosie mostly uses Songbirds Tui wax and for anyone allergic to nuts, pregnant or with skin allergies Rosie will use Grace massage wax, who also make a Hot Stone wax.

Massage waxes are used on the skin to allow for smooth free-flowing movements. Songbirds wax has a combination of Almond oil, Olive oil, Beeswax, Vitamin E oil and Arnica oil blended with various essential oils.

On an emotional level it is a potent anti-depressant and is especially useful in post natal depression and depression linked to breakdown of relationships. It is also a soothing, antiseptic tonic to the skin and hence this massage wax is one of the favourites along with Women’s blend. It is also especially valuable for dry, ageing and sensitive skins, which makes it popular for massage involving the elderly.

Geranium, lavender, bergamot and frankinsense

The Woman’s Blend is a balancing blend of essential oils which are all in their own right connected to PMT, the urinary tract and menopause and when blended together create a massage wax which is hormonally balancing and freshly floral.

Geranium: The scent which is most likely to come to the fore when smelling the blend is the geranium. It is astringent, antidepressant, antiseptic and haemostatic(stops bleeding). It is of assistance in helping balance the body during menopause and pre-mentrual tension.

Lavender: It’s properties range from analgesic, anti-depressant, antiseptic, bactericidal and decongestant, to hypotensive, insect repellent and sedative. However its properties can be summed up as calming, soothing and balancing.

Bergamot: Has a citrusy aroma which is very pleasant and is a valuable oil for urinary tract infection, depression and anxiety. It is one of the most uplifting of the essential oils and thus of great benefit in lifting the spirits and helping cope with loss. It has also been used for respiratory and dietry related conditions. less than the 2% needed for photosensitising effect.

Frankinsense: Has been used for religious rituals in many cultures. It has a very calming effect and encourages deep, slow breathing. It has been used to help with bronchitis and coughs through the ages. It is a uterine tonic and is useful for massage of the lower abdomen during periods. It is also useful for older skins.

Coriander: Has a sweet, spicy, warm smell and is useful to refresh and to uplift the mind. It can help mental fatigue, migraine, tension and nervous weakness. It has a warming effect on the stomach and can help to relieve wind and cramps. It also acts as a general cleanser of the body.
